Foundation Year Subjects
At Scarborough UTC, we offer a one-year foundation programme for students starting in Year 9. This foundational year focuses on enhancing skills-based learning, providing students with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed as they progress into Key Stage 4. Our curriculum is thoughtfully structured to ensure that, by the end of Year 9, students have developed a strong foundation across a range of disciplines.
During the first term, all Year 9 students at Scarborough UTC will study Health and Social Care, Engineering, Computer Science, and Geography, alongside their core subjects. By the end of the first half-term, students will have participated in a variety of skills-based lessons, designed to give them hands-on experience in these disciplines. This approach helps students make informed decisions about their future studies, enabling them to select two subject-specific pathways to focus on as they progress through Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
